Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Cast Æ Contorniate (33mm, 25.73 g, 6h). In the name of Nero. [NER]O [AVGVSTVS], laureate head right; additional engraving to add a beaded border and to enhance NER and the portrait / Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm frond; [S] C flanking; additional engraving to add a beaded border and to enhance Victory. Alföldi, Kontorniat 545. Brown patina, some minor smoothing(?). VF. Many of the details on this example were re-engraved in antiquity, as is common particularly on the cast contorniates. Rare.
