Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Æ Contorniate (36mm, 21.93 g, 5h). In the name of Nero. NERO C[LADIVS (sic) CAESAR AVG GER] P M TR P IMP P P, laureate head right / Serpent coiled right beneath tree; to right, altar topped with fruits. Alföldi, Kontorniat 180 (dies 54/47). Brown patina, some porosity, scratches. Near VF. Very rare – only two examples of this reverse type in CoinArchives.
