Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Æ Contorniate (36mm, 23.60 g, 11h). In the name of Divus Augustus. DIVVS AVGVSTVS PA[TER], laureate head right; monogram engraved in right field / [AVR-ELIAN]VS, the charioteer Aurelianus, head left, holding flail and palm frond, driving four plumed horses right; in exergue, names of the four horses in monogram. Alföldi, Kontorniat 124 (dies 44/161). Brown patina, some spots of inactive of corrosion, rim partly broken, scratches. FDC. Extremely rare – only one example of this combination known to Alföldi.
