Contorniates. Late 4th-5th centuries AD. Æ Contorniate (36mm, 24.55 g, 6h). In the name of Divus Augustus. DIVVS AVG[VST]VS PATER, laureate head right; palm frond engraved in right field / Assembly of the Gods: the deified Augustus, with eagle at feet, standing facing in attitude of address, to left, Fortuna seated right, holding cornucopia; to right, winged figure standing left before Mars seated facing, head left, holding spear and shield; in exergue, figures of Terra reclining left and and Oceanus right with mythological creature behind each. Alföldi, Kontorniat 117 (dies 42/96). Brown patina, areas of heavy corrosion. VF. Rare.
