Probus. AD 276-282. Æ Medallion (34mm, 26.51 g, 12h). Rome mint. 5th festive emission, first half AD 281. IMP PRO BVS P F AVG, laureate and cuirassed half-length bust left, breastplate adorned with gorgoneion aegis, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated by horseman motif / M ONETA AVG, the Tres Monetae standing left, each holding scale over pile of coins and a cornucopia. Gnecchi II 20 and pl. 120, 4 (same obv. die); S. Estiot, “Les émissions festives de l’atelier de Rome sous le règne de l’empereur Probus (276-282 AD)” in NZ (2019), 51 (D1/R10). Dark brown-green patina, some details enhanced. Good Fine.
