ISLANDS off IONIA, Chios. Circa 60-30 BC. Æ (13mm, 2.05 g, 2h). Dekmos, magistrate. Sphinx seated right, raising forepaw; grape bunch to right / Amphora; wreath(?) to left between ethnic. Mavrogordato 73.2; HGC 6, –; SNG Ashmolean –; Dow, ACTTB, p. 222 (this coin). Dark brown surfaces, some roughness. Near VF. Extremely rare magistrate for this bronze issue, only recorded on a silver drachm issue (Mavrogordato 69).
