ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (34mm, 16.54 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Deme– and Hiero–, magistrates. Struck 142/1 BC. Helmeted head of Athena Parthenos right / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; magistrates’ names in fields, pilos surmounted by star to right, Ǝ on amphora, EY below; all within wreath. Thompson 211 var. (unlisted control marks; same obv. die); HGC 4, 1602; Dow, ACTTB, p. 210 (this coin). Lightly toned, patches of find patina, scrapes and scratches on obverse, edge chip. VF.
