JEWELRY. Eastern Iranian Plateau. Middle - Late Bronze Age. 2000-1200 BCE. (13.8 cm long). Bronze. A long straight cloak pin with a terminal of the head of an ibex. The finial emphasizes the horns mouth and ears of the animal predominantly. Comparable bronze dress fasteners are documented in excavated contexts at sites including Tepe Yahya, Shahdad, and Shahr‑i Sokhta. Though frequently labeled “Luristan” in the art market, such objects reflect broader eastern Iranian Plateau metalworking traditions distinct from the Zagros bronze corpus. Intact.

From the St. Croix Collection.
