SCARABS. Ancient Egypt. New Kingdom. 1550-1075 BCE. Steatite. (17x12 mm). Base engraved with ultimate divine and protection: Scarab on the left represents God “KHEPRE”, the creator god. On the right is the feathers of “MAAT”, represents the Goddess of truth and justice. At the bottom, there are two signs of “RA”, the supreme Sun God. At the far bottom are signs of plentiful. On the far top is sign of the sky overlooking and blessing all the signs. The meaning is “AMUN-RA and plentiful”. Once glazed. Pierced for mounting. |
