CERAMIC POTTERY. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,400 BCE. (15 cm tall x 11 cm diameter). A squat, oval body that tapers into a slightly raised flat foot forms the base of this U-shaped ritual vessel. Two neck-like extensions stem from the shoulder, a rear neck like extension terminating in a large opening and a decorative spout with a pinched top, with ram horn like spirals suggesting animal forms. A central handle with a thumb knob extends between from the top of the body. Black painting with several geometric designs present. White pottery with no apparent glaze other than the painting. Some paint/glaze is faint or missing. Light earthen deposits. Some loss at rear spout lip and base, otherwise intact.

From the St. Croix Collection.
