CYPRUS, Uncertain. Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ Quadrans (16mm, 3.21 g, 12h). Aulus Plautius, proconsul. Struck in or shortly after 21 BC. Bare head right / Temple of Paphian Aphrodite with three bays, central bay containing conical xoanon, candelabrums in side bays; semicircular courtyard around. Amandry, Julio-Claudien I 2a (Paphos?); Parks 2a; RPC I 3906. Dark brown patina, light porosity, scratches. VF.

The conical stone which stood at the center of this temple was found by archaeologists a short distance from the temple. It was confirmed to be a meteorite.
