Produced in large quantities in England as part of the Conder token series, the Kentucky tokens of the early to mid 1790s derive their popular name from the letter K at the top of the pyramid on the reverse, a reference to Kentucky, which was admitted to the Union as the 15th state on June 1, 1792.
