CERAMIC POTTERY. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,400 BCE. (12 cm tall x 10 cm diameter). An hourglass shaped ritual vessel with flat foot and wide trumpeted lip. A spirit-like figure extends from the torso in the upper field of the vessel, crudely attributed with large closed eyes and a nose. A single ridge circles the piece below the slightly trumpeted lip. Redware pottery with variation in color from encrustations and blackening from being kilned. Earthen patina. One leg is missing, otherwise intact. |
