CERAMIC POTTERY. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,400 BCE. (8.5 cm tall x 11 cm long). A ritual vessel in the form of a pair of birds, a large flat-footed vessel with piercing at the lower central portion of the breast of the otherwise tear shaped vessel. A neck and head with beak extend forward, a second piercing stands at the base of the back of the neck, with a small bird form thumb rest partially covering it. White clay with black painted glaze to outline details. Some fading and encrustation. Intact and impressive. |
