PHRYGIA, Cadi. Severan Era. AD 193-235. Æ (17mm, 3.41 g, 6h). Helmeted bust of Athena right / KAΔO/ HNΩN, river-god Hermos reclining left, holding reed and cornucopia, resting elbow on urn from which water flows. RPC V.2 1331 corr. (rev. legend). Earthen green patina. Near VF.

RPC cites two specimens, in Munich and Copenhagen, both in inferior condition to the present coin. RPC gives the reverse legend with Hermos’ name spelled out in the exergue but it is clear that it is not actually inscribed after seeing this coin. Additionally, the obverse is described as having an aegis on Athena’s bust; it may be present on the two museum pieces but is not a feature on this coin. The quality of the two museum pieces makes identification of the finer details difficult.
