CERAMIC POTTERY. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,400 BCE. (12.5 cm tall x 12 cm long x 10 cm diameter). A cylindrical ritual vessel in white clay with a flat foot. To the rear of the piece, a squat neck opens into a wide mouthed lip. Before, a crudely formed ram’s head; a squat handle with thumb knob rests in between; to spacers placed to either side. Clean surfaces with minor blackening from the firing of the piece. Heavy earthen patina. Some loss to foot and at rim of spout. |
