CERAMIC POTTERY. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,400 BCE. (17 cm tall x 18 cm long x 10 cm wide). A ritual vessel with a long-tapered tear shaped body and three feet raising the vessel. To the forepart, a squat neck with wide open lips extends into a long-fluted spout. On the body, decorative wings and tail are formed. Ornate designs in black slip cover the vessel. Minor chipping at edge of one wing and tiny chip from edge of tail. Earthen patina over rather intact glazing. |
