CERAMIC POTTERY. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,400 BCE. (12 cm tall x 9 cm long x 7.5 cm wide). An oval, squat footed vessel in white ceramic. A neck extends from the forepart of the body, terminating in a bird’s head and beak. A small handle extends from the back of the neck to the mid portion of the top of the body. The example is heavily decorated in black geometric designs, emphasizing the bird’s features. Earthen patina. Minor loss to base, otherwise intact. |
