John II Comnenus. 1118-1143. EL Aspron Trachy Nomisma (32.5mm, 4.12 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck 1118-circa 1122. Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels / Crowned facing figure of John, wearing chlamys and resting hand on chest, and St. George, nimbate, wearing military attire, and holding sword on hip, together holding patriarchal cross set on small globe between them. DOC 8b; SB 1941; Dow, ACTTB, p. 312 (this coin). Toned, obverse double struck, scratches. Near VF.
