JUDAEA, Herodians. Herod IV Philip, with Tiberius. 4 BCE-34 CE. Æ (21mm, 7.03 g, 1h). Caesarea Panias (Caesarea Philippi) mint. Dated RY 33 of Herod IV (29/33 CE). Laureate head of Tiberius right; before, laurel branch; below, thunderbolt / Tetrastyle temple façade (Augusteum of Paneas), pellet in pediment; L Λ Γ (date) between columns. Meshorer 105; Hendin 6259 var. (obv. legend); RPC I 4946 corr. (bust); Sofaer –. Earthen brown surfaces, roughness. Fine. Extremely rare, only two recorded in RPC. The present coin corrects RPC’s obverse description, the laureate ties are clear on this specimen; thunderbolt not described.
