As can be seen from the references cited, the attribution of this coin type has never been certain. B. Tehberer in “A Series of Coins from an Uncertain Caesarea,” (The Numismatic Chronicle 175, 2015), p. 47-55, argues convincingly that these coins were struck at Mopsos during a brief period (circa AD 45-51) when the city called itself Caesarea.

All winning bids are subject to a 20% buyer’s fee.
