CARIA, Uncertain. Early-mid 4th century BC. AR Hemiobol(?) (6mm, 0.32 g, 5h). Forepart of lion right, head left / Facing head. Cf. HN Online 2198 and 1857 for similar; otherwise, unpublished in the standard references. Toned, slight porosity. Good VF. Very rare.

The Carian dynast Hyssaldomos and satrap Hekatomnos both struck tetartemoria at Mylasa with these types. However, both had a refined style of the facing head, and also fragments of their names on the reverse. Although the name could be off the flan below the head here, the schematic style of the reverse is not something replicated on other issues of either of these rulers.
