THRACE, Byzantion. Circa 260s BC. AR Tetradrachm (29.5mm, 16.60 g, 12h). In the name and types of Lysimachos. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, spear in background; Z in exergue. Marinescu –; Müller –; CN Online Type –; HGC 3, 1394; ANS 1944.100.81452 (same dies). Iridescent tone, thick horn silver deposits, heavy cleaning scratches. VF. Very rare.

While this issue was not recorded in Marinescu’s dissertation, it will be included in his forthcoming book on the mints of Byzantion and Kalchedon.
