OIL LAMP. Holyland. Roman. 2nd-4th Cent. CE. A molded oil lamp with tear shaped body that tapers at nozzle to one end. Two holes present, a large central hole mid lamp and one close to the end of the nozzle. Molded design covers the majority of the lamp’s lid, including a double register of vertical lines and a raised border surrounding the nozzle of the piece. Handle present opposite the nozzle. Blackening present on nozzle and up neck to the edge of the central hole. Encrustations present. |
