TERRACOTTA. Kushan/Bactria. c. 2400-2100 BCE. Group lot of two (2) terracotta pieces as follows: (5.2 cm) A terracotta idol of a reclining nude woman with hair up in a bun. Her right arm covers her breasts; she lays on her side, her legs kicked back playfully. Loss of high features. (5 cm) An applique with the bust of two people facing left. The foremost with arm outstretched and hand in a fist. The back person has an arm outstretched holding an unknown object, possibly an urn. Minor loss of detail on highpoints only. Tag on the back suggests parallel in BMAC 244. Some wear. Each with a Riker case. |
