Cermaic - Pottery. Trans-Caucasian. Peripheral tribes. 2,800 - 2,200 BCE. (8.0 cm tall x 8.5 cm long). A bird shaped vessel with a squat tear shaped body and a neck extending from it, to form the neck and head of the bird. A simple small handle extends from the back. There is a small hole/port on the top back and another at the lower front chest. Decoration in both dark red and black paint defines tail and wing feathers, and details and decorations on the neck and head of the bird. Very fine example of type. Some earthen patina. Glaze is broken in places but for the most part intact. |
