PISIDIA, Prostanna. Claudius II Gothicus. AD 268-270. Æ (30.5mm, 19.31 g, 7h). AY K MA AYP KΛAYΔIOC, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from the front / ΠPOCTANNЄΩN, Statue of Mên standing facing, head right, crescent on shoulders, holding scroll and pine cone; crescent above head, flanked by cocks above, lions at feet; all within distyle temple with eagle in pediment, in front of columns, shields. Cf. von Aulock, Pisidiens 1830 (Gallienus rev.); cf. RPC X Online 63459 (same). Unpublished. Earthen green patina, slight roughness. Near VF. Extremely rare and unique, unpublished for Claudius II. The Gallienus specimen is also unique. |
