Elagabalus. AD 218-222. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.11 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck AD 222. Laureate and draped bust right, wearing beard / Elagabalus standing right, holding club and sacrificing from patera over lighted altar to right; star to right. RIC IV 131; RSC 246 var. (wearing horn). Attractively toned, underlying luster, reverse struck with a worn die. EF. Exceptional portrait.
