Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Ciliarch crown decorated with five imperial busts, ЄΛ, and KOIN monogram; A/MK in center of crown. RPC VI Online 7072. 5 = SNG Levante Supp. 274 (this coin); SNG BN 1557. Brown patina, light porosity, obverse flan flaw, short flan crack. Near VF.

The crown is that of the Ciliarch or Cilicarch, the High Priest of Cilicia who presided over provincial temples dedicated to certain emperors. The different busts that decorate this crown represent the various emperors who were honored with temples throughout the region. The Ciliarch crown series featured anywhere between five to twelve emperor’s busts on the reverse.
