ILLYRIA, Apollonia. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ (32mm, 23.00 g, 7h). Struck under Septimius severus, AD 205-209. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Tetrastyle temple, seen in perspective right, wreath in pediment; to right, flaming altar; above, eagle flying right. Gjongecaj & Picard, Monnayage – (cf. 18, Septimius Severus, temple and altar left); Ceka – (cf. 125, same); Sestini 4. Rough brown patina. Good Fine. Extremely rare.

There is an indeterminate item or figure to the right of the altar on both this and the Sestini specimen. A clearer example will be needed to identify it with any certainty.
