Reverse: tafghaj / al-khaqan al-a‘zam / rukn al-dunya wa’l-din / muhammad bin muhammad / bin mas‘ud / khan. Near VF. Extremely rare, believed unpublished.

There has been disagreement among scholars (see SNAT XVa, p.92, note 19) as to whether Ghiyath al-Din Muhammad b. Mas‘ud and Rukn al-Din Muhammad were the same person; this coin, which clearly reads rukn al-dunya wa’l-din muhammad bin muhammad bin mas’ud, would appear to offer conclusive evidence that they were not the same person and that in fact the latter was the son of the former.
