KINGS of LYDIA. Walwetes (Alyattes) II (Ardys). Early 640s-circa 620s BC. EL Hekte – Sixth Stater (10.5mm, 2.38 g). Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes mint. Head of roaring lion right, “sun” with no rays on forehead; traces of WALW (in Lydian) downward on right, read from outside-in / Two incuse squares. Weidauer Group XVII, 103–10; Kurth G18; SNG Ashmolean 755 corr. (legend not noted). Minor double strike on obverse with worn die. VF.
