IONIA or CARIA, Uncertain. Circa 600-550 BC. EL Myshemihekte (6mm, 0.58 g). Vegetal ornament in the style of a lotus blossom or a fleur-de-lis (mandorla ansata[?]) / Incuse square. Fischer-Bossert, Electronserie II.14 (dies VE20/Q58 [?]); SNG Kayhan 1531 (same dies?). Minor marks. Good Fine.

Fischer-Bossert (following an observation by R. Hilbert) notes that one reverse die from this series is linked to the recently-identified series of electrum trites with a Carian inscription engraved around the edge of the obverse. He notes that such a single die link does not necessarily mean that the two series are related; there are instances of dies transferring between mints even during this early period that could account for this. As such, the location of the mint for the present issue could be Ionia or Caria.
