INDIA, Medieval (Deccan). temp. Yadavas of Devagiri. Uncertain. Circa 1187-1317. AV Padmatanka (18mm, 3.57 g). Two uncertain symbols, a wheel and conch, and an uncertain Kannada letter, each in incuse / Blank. Unpublished in the standard references. Lightly toned, areas of peripheral weakness. Good Fine.

Previous examples of this type have appeared in groups containing issues of the Yadava period, particularly those of the Paramara prince, Jagadeva. While they may be a contemporary feudatory to the Paramaras, only more research may achieve a more certain attribution.

( A special thanks to Prof. Shailendra Bhandare for his assistance regarding the attribution of this coin).
