Valentinian III. AD 425-455. AV Tremissis (13mm, 1.40 g, 12h). Rome or Ravenna mint. Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Cross within wreath with large central jewel; COMOB. RIC X 2059 (Rome or Ravenna); Depeyrot 47/8 (Rome); Ranieri –. Toned, both sides with doubling, reverse die rust, clipped, light scuff, light scratches. Near EF. Rare variety. RIC X 2059 is R4.

An uncharacteristic example stylistically making placing this coin at the specific mint more difficult. The possibility that this coin is could also be a well-exectuted contemporary imitation should not be discounted barring a die match.
