THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 460-400 BC. AR Obol (11mm, 0.85 g, 6h). Horse prancing right / The nymph Larissa stooping to right to adjust her sandal; single-handled hydra to right; all within shallow incuse square. BCD Thessaly I 1117 (same dies); HGC 4, 490. Toned, porosity, scratches, flan flaws, delaminations on edge. Fine.

Ex BCD Collection (Classical Numismatic Group Electronic Auction 292, 5 December 2012), lot 40.

It was noted in the first BCD catalog that Larissa appears to be resting her left foot on the retrograde “P”, which serves as a charming incorporation of the legend into the reverse scene.
