LUCANIA, Velia. Circa 400-340 BC. AR Nomos (18mm, 7.65 g, 3h). T Group. Head of nymph right, her hair in krobylos / Lion at bay right; above, owl flying left. Williams Period IV, 217 (O133/R166); HN Italy 1277; SNG ANS 1231 (same dies); SNG Lloyd 512 = Bement 243 (same dies); BMC 6 (same dies); Gulbenkian 103 = Jameson 378 (same dies). Toned, tiny flan flaws on obverse, a little off center on reverse. Near VF. Rare.
