Constantine I. AD 307/310-337. Æ Follis (20.5mm, 2.89 g, 6h). Londinium (London) mint. Struck late AD 314-early 315. Laureate and trabeate bust left / Sol standing left, raising hand and holding globe; S|P(?)//MSL. RIC VII 75 corr. (bust type); RML 727; C&T 8.07.018 and 8.04.y (this coin cited and illustrated). Dark green patina, light roughness, die wear. Near VF. Rare.

From the Lee Toone Collection.

C&T illustrate this coin on page 227 of the 2nd edition of C&T as an example of the uncertain mint mark of either S|F//MSL or S|P//MSL. They hypothesize that this coin is has a poorly cut P and should not be placed with the S|F//MSL emission unless higher quality specimens come to light that are definitively marked with the S|F//MSL mint mark. As such, it is best classified as a 8.07.018 for the time being and placed with the latter emission.
