Diocletian. AD 284-305. Æ Follis (26.5mm, 10.20 g, 6h). Londinium (London) mint. Struck circa AD 296-297. Laureate and cuirassed bust right / Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia. RIC VI –; RML 26; C&T 1.03.004. Dark olive green-brown patina, light roughness. VF. Very rare.

From the Lee Toone Collection.

While RML catalogs this bust type as trabeate, it is best described as a cuirassed bust with trabeate features as it has pteryges as well as the consular palm branches decoration on the shoulder. This sometimes-encountered synthesis of the cuirass and trabea is a known phenomena for this period at the London mint.

Closing Date and Time: 17 December 2025 at 12:54:20 ET.
