THRACE, Pautalia. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ Pentassarion (30.5mm, 20.36 g, 7h). Laureate and cuirassed bust right, seen from the front, gorgoneion on breastplate / Asclepius reclining left, head right, on winged and bearded serpent coiled right, raising right hand and cradling serpent-entwined staff in left arm. Tachev, Pautalia 401 (O128/R369); Ruzicka 618 var. (bust); Varbanov –. Dark green surfaces, minor marks, smoothing scratches. VF. Extremely rare, only one known to Tachev.
