EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Philip II of Macedon. Late 4th-3rd centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 13.67 g, 6h). Mint in the lower Danube region. Laureate head of Zeus right / Nude youth, holding palm, on horseback right; below, aphlaston; to lower right, H monogram. OTA 14/4 var. (controls); Lanz 355 var. (same); KMW 965 var. (same); CCCBM I –. Toned, some roughness, test cut. Near VF. Rare.

Although the aphlaston is common in the official Phillip II series struck at Amphipolis (struck under Kassandar, cf. Le Rider 17-18), it is quite rare in the contemporary imitative series.
