Mintage of 300 // José Mario Carlo, the first cardinal of Chile. 1946. 50mm: AR (3) and Æ (2). 70mm: AR (5) and Æ or CU (6). Mintage of 112 // José Toribio Medina, historian. 1955. Æ (2). Mintage of 320 // Centennial of the Valparaiso Fire Company “Pompe France.” 1955. Matte AR (13) and Æ (4) // Archbishop Raul Silva Henriquez. 1963. CU (1) and Æ (1) . All proof or UNC. Rene Thenot was a French engraver who earned great acclaim for his engravings of animals, winning the Grand Prix de Rome in 1921 and a silver medal at the Paris Exposition in 1925, and at the Expocision International in 1937. From 1937 until his death in 1963, Thenot worked at the Santiago mint, where he engraved numerous medals, including the selection offered here. A number of these medals are
