MYSIA, Hadrianothera. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ (15mm, 2.20 g, 6h). Bare head right / Bear’s head left. RPC III 1629; SNG BN 1091; SNG Copenhagen 176. Earthen green surfaces, slight porosity, edge flaw. VF.

Hadrianothera was founded following a succesfull hunt, which is depicted in fuller detail in a related issue (see RPC III 1624, showing the emperor on horseback spearing a bear). An additional issue in the name of Antinoüs also depicts a similar bear head.
