Head of Athena right, wearing Corinthian helmet / Owl standing right, to left, olive spray with two leaves and berry. Kroll 162 var. (Chalkous); RPC III 406 var. (same); Svoronos, Monnaies pl. 88, 24-25 var. (same). Dark green patina with earthen highlights, slight roughness, obverse off center. Near VF. Extremely rare variation of an already rare type. Svoronos only knew of two specimens, each larger and weighing more than double that of this coin. |
