MOESIA INFERIOR, Dionysopolis. Septimius Severus. AD 193-211. Æ Assarion (16mm, 1.73 g, 1h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Torch. Tachev, Dionysopolis 29 (O6/R10); Jekov –; Draganov, Bronze –; Varbanov –. Brown patina with light earthen highlights. Good VF. Extremely rare, the second and finest known. Superior to the Tachev plate coin.

Jekov only recorded two types for Septimius Severus at Dionysopolis, both pentassaria. Tachev catalogues two of each denomination, both assaria are very rare.
