M ANT ΓOPΔIANOC AYΓ, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / MIΔ AEΩN, Aphrodite, nude, standing facing, head right, covering herself with her left hand; right hand on column to left, draped with her veil. von Aulock Phrygiens 842 var. (Aphrodite facing left, column to right); RPC VII.1 768 var. (same). Earthen green patina, slight roughness. Near VF. Extremely rare. The type recorded in von Aulock and RPC is known from only one example, this is new and unique variety. |
