1793 Chain Cent. AMERICA. Fair-2 to AG-3 Details. . Moderate corrosion, small rim nick. LIBERTY is fully readable, as is part of the date. All of the chain links are visible. Struck between 27 February and 12 March 1793, these first United States cents intended for circulation had the Flowing Hair portrait and a Chain reverse. Of the 36,103 examples struck fewer than 1,000 or so examples survive in any grade.
