SCOTLAND. James III. 1460-1488. AR Halfgroat (18mm, 1.35 g, 1h). Main issue. Edinburgh mint; –/plain cross. Struck 1484-1488. Crowned bust facing slightly left / Long cross pattée; annulet-and-trefoil and crown alternating quarters. Burns 9a (fig. 647; same dies as illustration); SCBI 35 (Ashmolean & Hunterian), 789 (same obv. die); SCBC 5292. Deeply toned, slightly ragged edge. VF. Very rare.
