STUART. Charles I. 1625-1649. AR Shilling (32mm, 5.86 g, 12h). Group A, type 1. London mint; im: lis. Struck 1625. Crowned first bust left, wearing coronation robes and large ruff; XII (mark of value) to right / Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchée. Sharp (HLL) A1/1; Brooker 382 (same rev. die); North 2216; SCBC 2781 (this coin illustrated). Richly toned. Good VF. An excellent example, well struck on a remarkably full flan. Very rare of this first bust, especially so in this exceptional state.
