Mario Bernardo Pierangeli was an Italian lawyer who claimed to be descended from Michael II Comnenus Ducas, Despot of Epirus from 1230-1268. He managed to gain a small following of supporters. These “coins” were struck by a Mr. Gamberini to commemorate Pierangeli’s 40th birthday.
